It's totally unrelated, but I think that the "Zanarkand" that is referred to in Final Fantasy X is a reference to Samarcand of the ancient Middle East. There were a lot of wars around there too.
There were a lot of wars in a lot of places.
But now we try to let the land rest, don't we? Well, no. Too many hot places in the world still. But that's not something I will tell you about. Because I can't figure it out.
